Milorad Dodik, whose mandate as President of Republika Srpska was revoked following a final ruling by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a subsequent decision by the Central Election Commission (CEC), addressed the media on Wednesday from the Republika Srpska Presidential Palace alongside his coalition partners.

Speaking to journalists, Dodik noted that the ruling coalition is determined to defend Republika Srpska’s position under the Dayton Agreement.

He also reiterated his longstanding position that the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina lacks legitimacy.

"My mandate comes from the people, and that is why we will listen to them in a referendum concerning me and the function I hold, which, as we’ve agreed, will be organised based on a decision of the National Assembly in the coming period," Doik said.

He went on to criticise what he called the “Bosniak political agenda,” stating:

"They’ve exhausted all their ambitions. They weren’t working in their own interest, but against us. Everything they’ve done has been directed against Republika Srpska."

Although Dodik has the legal right to appeal the CEC's decision, he announced that he does not intend to respect it.

"I pledge to perform my duties conscientiously and responsibly, to protect state secrets, to defend and represent the interests of the people and citizens of Republika Srpska, and to uphold the Constitution and laws of both BiH and Republika Srpska. There is no such thing as the CEC here," Dodik previously wrote on social media.

Dodik, in his address on Wednesday, stated that “'Muslims' are pathological enemies of Serbs” while reaffirming his position.

He said that the upcoming referendum will ask “whether we should agree to the destruction of the Constitution of Republika Srpska.” According to him, the decision to hold the referendum will be made by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NSRS).

“I am here and I will remain here. I have no intention of leaving. I have a responsibility given to me by the people. I will defeat them with their own weapon – politics. Everything they’ve done has been political decisions, masked as alleged judicial rulings, which have destroyed the judicial system and the hierarchy of jurisdiction,” he stated, among other things.

Dodik's statements come amid heightened political tensions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, following his criminal conviction and the subsequent legal and electoral consequences that triggered the CEC’s decision to strip him of his office. Despite the legal framework in place, Dodik’s defiance signals further institutional and political friction within the country.
